Several significant world events happened during the month of June: Port Royal (home base to the characters in "Pirates of the Caribbean 3") was destroyed by an earthquake in 1692; King John signed the Magna Carta (in 1215); Alexander the Great and Muhammad the Prophet died (in 323 B.C.E. and 632 C.E. respectively); Auschwitz opened its gates (in 1940) and took in hundreds of Polish political prisoners; Troy (it is said) was defeated in the Trojan Wars; the Allies invaded Normandy on D-Day (in 1944); Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated in Los Angeles (in 1968) and Lizzie Borden was found "not guilty" of killing her parents (in 1893).
