The ALA election polls are now open through April 24. If you are a member of AASL and ALA, you will be receiving information shortly, if you haven't already, concerning how to vote in this year's election. I encourage all AIME members, that are also members of AASL and ALA, to VOTE when you receive the information on how to cast your ballot. This is a very important election for all school library media professionals, since we don't normally have one of our members on the ballot for ALA President. J. Linda Williams is running for ALA President and she is also the the coordinator of school library media services in Anne Arundel County in Maryland. Linda is also a past-President of AASL. She knows the needs of school library media professionals and the challenges we face. Having served as AASL President-Elect and President, she met many school media professionals in a variety of situations during her recent tenure. I worked with her on the AASL
Board and know firsthand of her strength and vision for the profession. She will promote the skills of school library media professionals, and will work to develop libraries and the school media profession for 21st. century learners. She has the experience, skills, and personality necessary to inspire others to work productively and cooperatively. She will be a strong advocate for our profession, and we need someone now that will inspire others to be strong advocates for this profession. She is a strong proponent for literacy, legislative needs, strong budgets, and professional and support personnel in all school media centers. Linda is the best candidate for President of the American Library Association, since she knows our needs and the needs of our profession. I encourage you to think of Linda when you cast your ballot. Linda by visiting her blog at www.lindasreflections.blogspot.com . Please vote!
